Die Liga Alpe-Adria A ist die höchste Spielklasse des zur Saison 51 neu gegründeten Länderverbunds Alpe-Adria Liga. Vorgängerligen waren für die Alpenliga die Alpen-Superliga und für Italien die Serie A.

Jedes der 20 Teams der Liga tritt in Hin- und Rückspielen gegen jeden anderen Verein der Liga Alpe-Adria A an. Die Mannschaft mit den meisten Punkten aus allen Spielen wird Alpe-Adria-Meister.

Aus der Liga Alpe-Adria A steigen die letzten drei Mannschaften in die Liga Alpe Adria B, die zweithöchste Spielklasse, ab.
