Der Afrika Cup wird alle zwei Jahre während des Saisonübergangs veranstaltet. Unter 32 Nationalmannschaften Afrikas wird dabei der Afrikameister ermittelt. Die jeweiligen Halbfinalisten des Afrika Cups sind für die folgende Weltmeisterschaft qualifiziert. Dominiert wird der Afrika Cup von Nigeria, das bereits dreimal den Titel gewinnen konnte.
