Der Silkeborg Idrætsforening (SIF) (deutsch Sportverein von Silkeborg) ist ein dänischer Fußballverein in Silkeborg in der Region Midtjylland. Er ist als einziger Club der ersten dänischen Liga an der Börse notiert.
Silkeborg hat etwa 44.000 Einwohner und liegt etwa 40 km westlich von Aarhus und knapp 35 km südlich von Viborg an der Eisenbahnlinie zwischen Herning und Skanderborg. Die Stadt liegt zu beiden Seiten des Silkeborg Langsø, dieser wird vom längsten Fluss Dänemarks, der Gudenå, durchflossen. Etwa 11 km westlich von Silkeborg liegt das Toteisloch Bølling Sø, der Hügel Himmelbjerget etwa 12 km südöstlich. 1844 erhielt der Unternehmer Michael Drewsen die Erlaubnis, eine Papierfabrik in Silkeborg zu errichten. Durch den wirtschaftlichen Aufschwung erhielt Silkeborg 1846 den Status eines Handelsplatzes und zum 1. Januar 1900 die Stadtrechte. Die Kirche wurde 1877 fertiggestellt. Nennenswerte Industrien sind die Papier- und Maschinenindustrie. Die Jyske Bank hat in Silkeborg ihren Firmensitz. In Silkeborg ist das Nationale Institut für Umweltforschung (NERI, National Environmental Research Institute) Dänemarks.
Der Verein bei BMO
Gemeinsam mit den Teams HB Tórshavn, FH Hafnarfjörður und FK Haugesund wurde das dänische Team Silkeborg Idraetsforening zur Saison 31 im Rahmen einer größeren Umstrukturierung des Länderverbund Skandinavien wieder in den Spielbetrieb aufgenommen. SIF spielte bereits von Saison 10-18 und in der Saison 21 in der Skandinavia 2 und war wegen notorischer Erfolglosigkeit inaktiv.
