Hugo Joel ist ein portugiesischer Abwehrspieler der Stärke 10. Reales Vorbild ist der portugiesische Verteidiger Ricardo Joel, der derzeit bei Leixoes SC spielt.
Hugo Joel Veiga stammt aus der Nachwuchsmannschaft des FC Porto. Von Saison 15 bis 17 spielte er im Amateurteam des FC Porto, seit der Saison 18 gehört er zum Kader der Profis der Dragoes. Ein zweijähriges Gastspiel in Deutschland beim VfB Stuttgart verlief nicht ganz so erfolgreich, wie geplant. Veiga nahm deshalb gerne das Angebot des FC Porto an, in seine Heimat zurückzukehren. Allerdings wurde er zunächst nur in der Amateurmannschaft eingesetzt. Erst in der Saison 17 gelang ihm der Sprung ins Profiteam. Doch auch dort musste Veiga noch relativ lange warten, bis er endlich zum Zug kam. Seinen ersten Profieinsatz absolvierte er erst in Saison 19, dann aber ging die Post ab. Bereits ein Jahr später zählte er zur Stammformation der Portuenser.
